- SOCCER: MILAN NEW TOP DOGS AFTER MY ARRIVAL, SAYS IBRA
 (ANSA) - Milan, September 9 - Zlatan Ibrahimovic on Thursday
warned his treble-winning former club Inter Milan that they will
not be top dogs in Europe and Italy for much longer after his
arrival at their city rivals AC Milan.
The Swede also rubbed Inter's noses into his move to the
other side of town after a year at Barcelona, saying Milan's
shirt was ''the most beautiful I've ever worn'' at his and
Brazil forward Robinho's presentation.

- F1: ALONSO UPBEAT ON ITALIAN GRAND PRIX
 (ANSA) - Monza, September 9 - Despite being 41 points out of
first place in the dhe can still be a contender for this year's
title if he does well at Sunday's Italian Grand Prix.
Speaking Thursday at the pre-race press conference, the
two-time world champion said "with this new points system, we
have seen how the situation can change quickly from race to
race".
The Spanish driver, however, admitted that his chances were
slimmer after he failed to finish in the last race in Belgium.

- SOCCER: BALOTELLI 'OUT FOR TWO MONTHS'
 (ANSA) - Pavia, September 9 - Manchester City's Italy
forward Mario Balotelli had successful meniscus surgery Thursday
and will be out for up to two months, doctors said.
The injury to Balotelli's right knee will keep the
20-year-old out of Italy's Euro 2012 qualifiers against Northern
Ireland on October 8th and Serbia on October 12th.
The group goes into hibernation then and Italy resumes its
campaign against Slovenia in March.

 (ANSA) - Rome, September 9 - Italian pop star Laura Pausini
has been nominated for what could be her fourth Latin Grammy
award, and fifth Grammy overall.
Pausini, only the second Italian artist after the
legendary Domenico Mudugno to win a Grammy proper, won her third
Latin Grammy last November for her hit album 'Primavera
anticipada' (Early Spring).
The 36-year-old 'Queen of Italian Pop', who has a huge
following in Latin America, has been tapped this year in the
Best Long-Form Video category for Laura Live '09, a record of
her sell-out world tour last year.

- UNSAFE SEX RAMPANT AMONG YOUNG ITALIANS THIS SUMMER
 (ANSA) - Rome, September 9 - Unsafe sex has been rampant
among young Italians during the lovemaking high season this
summer, according to figures released on Thursday.
A poll of people in 10 Italian cities with an average age
just under 19 revealed that half said they are ''not always
careful'' and that they only took precautions the ''first time
with a new partner''.
The study by the Italian Gynaecology and Obstetrics Society
(SIGO) said 6% percent of respondents do not use any form of
contraception.

 (ANSA) - Rome, September 9 - Four Italian films are among 46
European movies vying to be nominated for the European Film
Awards in December.
The quartet on the European Film Academy shortlist
announced Thursday are: La Prima Cosa Bella (The First Beautiful
Thing) by Paolo Virzi'; Ferzan Ozpetek's Mine Vaganti (Loose
Cannons); Daniele Luchetti's La Nostra Vita (Our Life); and
L'Uomo Che Verra' (The Man Who Will Come) by Giorgio Diritti.

- F1: FERRARI LAUNCHES ONLINE SIMULATOR
 (ANSA) - Monza, September 9 - Ferrari on Thursday unveiled
its first online virtual simulator, the Ferrari Virtual Academy,
which will be used for an international web tournament.
The simulator was developed in collaboration with Ferrari
drivers Fernando Alonso, Felipe Massa and Giancarlo Fisichella,
together with Scuderia engineers, and virtually offers all the
sensations of driving this year's F10 Formula 1 race car.
Ferrari said in a statement that the first release will
allow fans from all over the world to compete with each other on
the team's Fiorano track.

- THIRD SUICIDE IN A WEEK IN NAPLES JAIL
 (ANSA) - Naples, September 9 - Thursday saw the third
suicide this week of an inmate in Naples' Poggioreale prison.
A transsexual prostitute from Puglia sucked on a gas pipe,
becoming Italy's 47th jail suicide this year.
Penitentiary union UILPA said 102 attempted suicides,
"saved at the last minute", should be added to the tally as
testimony of the "depressing" conditions in Italian prisons.
UILPA complained that its "dramatic" message was being
censored by the government and the media.

Andreotti unleashed a storm of criticism Thursday when he said a
widely regarded hero murdered while liquidating a Mafia-linked
financier's assets in the 1970s had brought it on himself.
In an interview for a TV programme on the affair, Andreotti,
91, said "I don't want to fill in for the police but certainly
(Giorgio Ambrosoli) was someone who 'was asking for it".
